The Grimsby Futsal League saw one of the best games on Tuesday 23rd June as Young's who are at present top of the Monday League travelled to Kent Street to play top of the Tuesday Kent Street League "Kent Street".

Young's have traditionally not played well on Kent Street due to its size but this game was the exception. Kent Street took an early lead with some good play, Young's equalised shortly after which sparked a good spell adding two more to the tally. Kent Street responded well pegging the score back level to 3-3. Young's then added a fourth, which saw something that is very rare in Futsal Kent Street levelled straight from the kick off with a beautiful finish into the top corner. Young's then did one better going ahead from their own kick off with Jon-jo finding the bottom corner. So in the space of about 3 minutes we saw 3 goals. With the score at 5-4 to Young's, Kent Street then upped the tempo adding two more to take the lead 6-5. Young's also responded well and equalised with some good passing. At the score 6-6 it looked like both teams had run out of steam but yet again Kent Street raised their game and took the lead with about 5 minutes of the game remaining. Young's somehow found some energy and found an equaliser in the games dying moments to take the tie to penalties.

As always penos are always a gamble, Young's duly dispatched all theirs with Kent Street having one saved by keeper Dale Spalding and hitting the crossbar on another. Congratulation goes to Young's for a very hard fought victory and commiserations to a very adept Kent Street side. Worth mentioning, is the superb performance from Young's player Jon-Jo scoring 5 of Young's 7 goals.

Fulstow & Littlefields serve up a Grimsby Futsal Cup classic.  For 30 minutes Fulstow controlled the game by controlling the ball and thus limiting Litts' chances. Score at this point 2-0 Fulstow. That said Matt Payne had hit post with 2 great shots and great defensive covering had denied Litts even 1 goal.

The game then changed Litts' took their chances and 2-2 - the game was back on.  From this point Littlefields took control to win 5-4, an unlikely result at half time.

One of the best ever games I have watched at Second Avenue.  KB

BBS 6 Grimsby Catalonia 1, with a Mr Reg Jackson from the LFA watching it was pleasing that both teams showed how futsal should be played. KB

BBS Couriers dominated the game with BBS's Danny Durrosimo and Danny O' Hare the show; Gy Cats welcomed back Shaun Gladwell who suffered a double leg break back in Jan 08 who played outstanding hitting the post with a free kick, Jason Chisnall with the consolation goal. DG

With chiefs getting a bye in the futsal cup they were given a life line to play Gy All Blacks, The difference was simple, Gy All Blacks 'Yam' Quick feet & clinical finishing.  DG

Grimsby Auditorium 4 Willows Valliant 4

Willows seemed to be in control as they went 4-2 up at half time, Auditorium pulled it back to 4-4 with less than a minute to go, (Skoda' Valiant & Shane' Audi both outstanding) Straight to penalty's then, Both keepers made good saves but in the end Auditorium prevailed.  DG

GRS get first league win.  Grimsby Saxons fall guys.  Last minute winner in a 9-8 thriller that neither team deserved to lose.  Some ‘real' futsal amongst the 17 scored!    KB

El Dogoes 5 Newton Heath 4. With minutes to go Newton was looking for a consolation goal, what an end to what had been a Dogoes stroll.  Newton never worked out how to play against a ‘flyer' GK; a tactic several teams are now using.  All 4 games on the night were separated by a 1 goal margin! KB
