Monday night Premier League
Superb night of futsal, went down to see referees and ended up watching 3 engrossing matches. First off Shamrock and Youngs'
Seafoods' served up a 3-3 cracker. Youngs' had the larger squad but just could not shake Shamrock of their game. Lee Bushell scored 2 for Shamrock, the first an absolute left cracker from an angle and distance he should not have been shooting from.
On paper Gy Catalonia looked to have a 'boxers' chance against an all start Fulstow Rovers including for the first time England futsal star, Ben Mortlock. The Fulstow team was soaked in futsal experience. 4-1 at half time there was only one winner, just how many more would they score? To their credit Catalonia dug in, marshaled by my player of the night (Simon Taylor), they scored twice off the break in a half that Fulstow dominated the ball. 4-3.
Finally FCGY mustered a team to play Willows Valiant in the League Cup. The game was nip and tuck the full 40 minutes, every opportunity had to be worked for as defences worked as units to repel attacks. When breached Ryan Smith and 'Higgo' made some brilliant saves, conceding only 2 goals each. Lew Salter was red carded after 2 yellows for foul play meaning Valiant had to play 2 minutes a player short.
Junior Under 11 League
Discoveries Panthers took the points in a 7 goal thriller against fellow club mates Discoveries Rangers.
East Coast Lions returned to top of the league with a resounding win over Discoveries Jets.
ECL 'A' entertained Discoveries Jets tonight and put in a
good first half display with neat passing and finishing. HT 6-0. The second
half however saw ECL step off the pedal a bit and let Discoveries attack more
but still couldn't get through.FT 9-0. Credit to the Discoveries goalie who kept
the score down with some good saves or it could have been double figures. Stuart Orr
In an other inter club derby the more experienced Grimsby Soccer Club Elite beat newcomers GSC N Waltham by odd goal in 5.
League table makes fascinating reading, no team in top 5 can afford a slip, whilst in bottom 5 a 3 point win can make a big difference, everything is there to play for.
Team Ameshi have asked to join next under 11 league.
Tuesday League
Newton Heath (with mainly same players) is now called BIFFA, BIFFA continue in same N Heath way - beating spirited Potential who's results are improving.
Two League Cup ties has left a El Dogoes vs. Madrid Final. Experience vs. Youth
Wednesday League
GRS players badly let Gav' Broughton down as team crashes out of League Cup. Fresh go into final beating Newton Heath by odd goal in 7.
Gy Saxons beat Scartholonia to make it back to back wins; another best of 7 goals contest.
