Father and son think futsal could be the solution to England's football future! But they need local teams to join an under 10s futsal league...

What

Mark Laughton (38) and his son Jacob (9) are both involved with futsal coaching in North East Lincolnshire.

Since September 2011 Mark has been the volunteer assistant futsal coach alongside Kevin Bryant, the well known futsal organiser. Kevin started an under 10s training session at the Peaks Lane YMCA Hostel earlier in the year, and Mark's son Jacob joined the group in May.

The under 10s session attracted some older young people, and lead to an under 13s coaching session now every Thursday 5.30pm to 6.30pm, and a YMCA team in the U13s Community Futsal League.

Jacob (9) has made some important contributions to the under 13s team despite his age, but as reported in a previous article the under 10s team need opposition now. Kevin and Mark hope to be able to set up an under 10s league as early in the new year as possible. Do you have a team ready for their futsal challenge?

When

The YMCA under 10s train every Saturday, 9am to 10am at The YMCA Peaks Lane

Where

Matches can be played in any suitably sized sports hall. If there is room for spectators even better

Who

All of the futsal matches organised by Kevin Bryant are FA registered with FA referees. If you have 7 players under 10 years of age on 30 August 2011 who want to challenge the YMCA team contact Kevin

Mark is a level 1 FA coach, and works as a youth and community development co-ordinator

Why

Futsal is a small-sided version of football, using a low-bounce ball which improves a player’s touch, turns and technique. It is fast and fun

8 years ago Mark played in one of the adult futsal leagues currently based at Second Avenue Resource Centre. He made some solid appearances for Grimsby Baptist Church. Mark was impressed by the style and standard of football this game produced even then. Now he sees his eldest son improve weekly

How

Contact Kevin Bryant to challenge the YMCA U10s Futsal team
