Tuesday League
GRS 4 El Dogo’s’ 6
Terrific game, early stages
hinted at a shock GRS win, difference between teams was El Dogo’s sharper more
clever finishing. Two goals in front at
break, El Dogo’s stretched the league immediately after the restart, the worst
possible time for GRS. The gap opened to
6-2 as GRS lost some of the earlier shape chasing the game. A late rally to 6-4 gave El Dogo’s a small
fright, nothing on a Halloween level.
Every team is giving the
opposition a hard time, best group of teams in ten years.

YMCA 3 Franklin College 5
The best I have seen YMCA
(Scartholonia Wednesday League) play.
Against a Franklin starting line up that replicated the FC Grimsby National
League team, they were superb. The defence
was organised brilliantly, deep, patient and defenders communicated with each
other. The solid base forced Franklin to
playing endless ‘save’ passes; when YMCA did win the ball they hit Franklin
fast on the break, forcing Franklin onto their back foot. 2-1 Franklin at break.
Second half did not go to plan
for YMCA, serious ankle injury to Nathan meant he had to leave game, and with
five minutes left a deliberate red card for hand ball meant they had to play a
player short. Even with four tired
players they managed a goal.
