 GRIMSBY SAXONS

Left it until last week of current league to register that elusive 3 points.

Newton Heath had strength in their team & wanted the win more, Blaines inconsistency of defending as a team left them exposed at the back. This cost them the game.

Newton go through to the final to face Tuesday leagues Franklin College.

GRS was on top throughout game.

Quick passing movement & excellent solo goals from GRS's 'Declan' and persistent play from 'Dean Barrett' and 'John Higton' showed what takes to be a futsal player.

Excellent outfield play from veteran keeper Steve Goodwin, proving he is an all rounder, made himself a nuisance for Scartholonia who played well in parts & after a keeper change things looked bright as the full time whistle approached.

GRS have had a big win in them for some weeks, Scartholonia, just back of holiday walked into it.

  Game of the night.

The game started well for both teams with Fresh looking the favourites.

It all changed when Saxons veteran 'Dave Green' found the net early on in the first half and ended with same player making a crucial goal mouth clearance late on, this after having come back from a double ankle break injury. A great personal achievement for him and Saxons.

Fresh pushed on and had opportunity when 'Scott Harris' awarded a penalty for being brought down in the box, but was denied by man of the match Saxons keeper 'Mike Wagerman.' He made save after save repelling countless attacks from Fresh, unbeatable on the night.
