MONDAY 9th August - 2ND Avenue Resource Centre - 7-15 KO.

FC Grimsby 6 vs. Grimsby Institute Futsal League Select 2

 Refereeing Master Class

Gavin Sartain & Lucas Liuna Lopez.
image001.png  Gavin Sartain has refereed international futsal matches for FA, plus international ladies tournament  for Portuguese FA; his highest achievement was 2010  selected senior referee at FA Futsal Leagues Play Off Final.  A game described on the FA's own web site as the greatest game of futsal ever played in England.

Lucas Liuna Lopez is a professional futsal referee working in the Spanish professional futsal league.

This a one off opportunity for Grimsby area referees to observe futsal played to a high standard (FC Grimsby is in last 16 of FA Futsal Cup 2010), and 2 referees from the pinnacle of futsal.  Admission is free.

  Grimsby Institute Futsal League Select:

Team Manager Rob Phillips (BBS Couriours)

Ben Mortlock (England) Adam Cooper (El Dogoes). Steve Goodwin (Gy Institute). Liam Baldock, Ryan Milson, 'Nipper, Danny O'Hare, Lee Walker (Youngs Seafoods). Lee Bushell, Neil Courtley (Shamrock). Sam Hallet (Fulstow Rovers).

Newton Heath players unavailable for selection as all in London for Charity Shield game at Wembley.

FC Grimsby:

Mathew Payne (Captain) FA League top scorer 2009. D Powers, Danny Durrosimmo (Willows Valiant). Si Taylor ( Gy Catalonia). Sam Brooks (Fulstow Rovers). Josh Parry (Kent St Resource Centre). Gavin Broughton (GRS). Paul Goodhand (Ex England). Peter Herriman (Fulstow Rovers).

A superb game, FC Grimsby's advantage of being a 'team' rather than a 'select team' gave them an advantage throughout the game.  The 'select' was hampered by Grimsby goal keeper Gavin Broughton continuing his recent form, unquestionably the 'man of the match.'

The refereeing was advertised as a 'master class' and so it was; both referees decisions was understood and accepted immediately by the players. Every touch and deflection was spotted; signals was straight out of FIFA hand book.

A big thank to Gavin and Lucas on behalf of the League and the players.
