Littlefields' 6 Potter Futsal 3
Credit to both teams for an excellent final that grasped the spectators attention for the full 40 minutes. Littlefields' Futsal went into the game hot favourites, vastly more experienced as individuals and as a team. Potter Futsal was the first team from Kent Street to reach the final, the fact that they did in their first futsal season speaks volume's for the teams capacity to learn and adapt. Apart from playing more experienced opponents they had to adapt to Littlefieds' much larger Second Avenue home.
Potter was never in-front in the game, but was always close until the 5th goal. The game was played at a blistering pace, the team with the ball was dominating play, defences were tested to breaking point, both keepers made last ditch saves when a goal looked the most probable outcome.
Always when Littlefieds' scored there was that deja-vu feeling that Potter would capitulate as other had done before, it never happened, Potter was there for the full ten rounds, no easy knockout here.
The injured Paul Goodhand (Potter Futsal) was on the side line, what if had he been fit? Kent Street just might have had their first Grimsby Futsal Cup winner, we shall never know.
An absolute credit to both teams that greatly impressed our sponsors Guinness Northern Counties who we must thank once again for their generous support.
Referees Gavin Sartain, Dean Gladwell and Lee Bartlett managed the game in exemplary manor.
