Had the unusual experience of phone calls from 2 managers
reporting that they had been part of an excellent FA Qualifying game, the
winners to represent the Lincolnshire Football Association at the National
Finals in Sheffield at the superb English Institute of Sport.
Lindsey School, defending national champions, teacher (Mr Robert Allenby) was delighted that
his team was to defend their title, and was doubly pleased that his team had been
able to raise their game a level just to qualify.
Rob Parry sports coordinator at the Kent Street Resource was
magnanimous in defeat, giving fulsome praise to their opponents. He was sure that whichever team had qualified
would do Grimsby credit at a national
level.
All Rob Parry’s team is eligible to play at the same age
level next year.
The Kent St took an early 3-0 lead, at which point Lindsey
School (Rob Allenby) called for his allotted first half time out. The minute was
not wasted; they clawed their way back to 3-3, and from that platform moved
on. Kent St had to chase the game,
always a dangerous tactic as it can leave the defence exposed. They also suffered having an 8 man squad vs. a
10 man squad; the energy of the 10 man squad can be decisive, particularly indoors
when players dehydrate faster than outdoors.
Mr Robert Allenby is currently taking part in the FA’s first
ever Futsal level 2 coaching course
at Lilleshall.
