Saturday13th March 2010
20 young people attended a Lincolnshire County FA 'young leaders development day' at Lincoln, which I was invited to present a one and half hour futsal talk and game.
60% of the attendees was new to futsal; which sounds a lot but 5 years ago would have been 90%.
The first half hour was classroom based, starting with a short video display of futsal, followed by a talk about futsal's origins in S America through to world wide appeal as the world's most played small sided sport.
After a brief resume on the rules we went into the indoor sports hall to experience the game. The group was mixed sex's and abilities, but as usual the players took to the game like 'ducks to water.'
After a brief game, we had a look how tactics could be evolved to give your team a better chance of winning.
Back to the classroom and a brief final statement.
It was good to hear Paul Hammett, LFA Development Officer, explain that the LFA was committed to futsal development.
A very enjoyable and rewarding day.
Should any school or organisation want a similar presentation I will be pleased to assist.
