White Tigers           5 v 19    FSRC All Stars.

Former Tiger Tames The Whites!

A fantastic round of games this week saw an enthralling and very competitive game between the White Tigers and FSRC All Stars. This could be seen as a grudge match even though they all play together in Danny Weltman’s team and the White Tigers were snapping and snarling throughout. They didn’t however, contend with the All Star’s number 6 and former Hull City School Of Excellence player who after having scored a hat trick in the first three minutes, went on to dominate in a game where he scored ten goals all together! Both goalkeepers excelled in this fast, skilful match up but the Tigers couldn’t live with the free flowing All Stars on this occasion. It has to be said that the Tiger’s number 5 continues to impress though and is on the verge of getting a game with the county side at the next tournament. Overall a wonderful display of attacking Futsal. In the other exciting matches, the Untouchables got a confidence boosting win against the Wanderers whose number 5 seems to have found his shooting boots, scoring four goals. The very much older and very skilful Galacticos hammered the plucky Humberstone lads who to this point, have not been heavily beaten by anyone. Hopefully this will not affect their confidence, whilst Galacticos should now kick on to give the All Stars lads some real competition.  Finally in a very close fought tactical encounter, Clee Phoenix came from 3 down to overcome the rapidly improving FC Evolution. The Clee Goalie was outstanding, making several ‘sure thing’ saves and at the other end, the voice of wisdom ( Clee’s wise young manager) directed well from the touch lines. Evolution were not outclassed but they were stopped by a great keeping performance and must take heart from a positive performance. Another round of excellent Futsal matches that prove skill and strength is not just the preserve of the adults!

The competition  so far is brilliant with many teams showing early promise. Galacticos and the White Tigers have shown competitive spirit and determination amongst the front runners. FC Evolution get better every week thanks to the diligent way in which their manager Nath learns from every opportunity and is never afraid of switching tactics. Wanderers have a fantastic attitude to the game and seem to enjoy every minute whilst the Untouchables have some very talented players and are slowly making positive progress in terms of skill and team work.Clee Phoenix are a group of lads with an incredible attitude from Lindsey school and have shown flashes of brilliance though they do sometimes get caught out at the back. This, I am sure, will improve with experience.Humberstone la Coruna have been a revelation, the youngest squad in the league started very slowly with some narrow defeats in friendlies.

They then changed personnel slightly and became a much quicker, more positive outfit and were out muscled last week by the incredibly strong White Tigers after being well in front in the first half. Finally I have to mention FSRC All Stars and they are living up to their name. They are playing some sublime Futsal and are going to be the team to beat. They have the second youngest squad but the talent on show is mesmerising at times. They were more than a match for the National Champions a few weeks ago only losing to the much older and much larger Lindsey squad after being well up at half time. All in all this league is living up to the Futsal promise of excellent, skilful games which are fair but very competitive. Another two teams look set to join the league next week and then we will be one of the area's biggest junior Futsal leagues. Top goal scorers will be included in next week's bulletin.
