Had an unusual complaint re futsal refereeing this week, unusual because the team had actually won!

Teams please be aware that the referees work under the auspices of the
Lincolnshire FA Ltd; not myself as the organiser of the GFL.
The league
is independent of the referees. That said we all need to, and have to
work together, players included. Speaking as a referee I would ask players just how many times they have sat
down and read the LAWS of futsal or football. Playing or watching matches
on TV can give you a warped view of the LAWS particularly watching UK
matches.
Italian, Spanish and German referees give 33% more fouls per
game than Premier League referees! Why?
If we are all working from the
same LAWS is the Premiership is out of line with the rest of Europe? Could
it be that the lenience of UK referees 'to let the game flow' is wrong?
This is relevant to Grimsby futsal because our players are watching
refereeing that is out of line with Europe (less disciplined) and are then playing
futsal which is/should be tightly refereed so the skills of the technical
player are protected. With 2 referees breathing over every player's shoulders
the 'opportunity' for foul play is closely monitored. The intelligent
player will work this out and realise he has to win the ball fairly without
incurring the referees discretion. Tell any team they are on their 5th
foul, suddenly tackling becomes the art form it should have been in the first
place.
The referees take their responsibilities seriously, 95% of us are qualified
to referee futsal, 5% are qualified to referee 11v11 the stepping stone to
futsal refereeing. In some countries referees have to make a choice to
which game they will make a career path; a luxury if you have a surplus of referees.
International coach Mico Martic made the following observations about defending
at a Futsal Master Class:
Defend behind the line of the ball.
Organise defenders to stop the opposition playing the ball they want to
play.
Tackling is most successful when player with ball is in the wide area close
to touch lines.
Finally players please note the final line in every LAW; in the opinion of
the referee.
(When I kept match records for FA Futsal Cup it was noticable that the small pitches (Kent St) recored higher sores and foul counts than the larger pitches (2nd Avenue). Referees observed that the small pitches was harder to referee than the larger pitch.
