Super Monday
4 brilliant under 11 junior games at Novartis venue, with large appreciative crowds watching. what more could you ask for?
There is a continual debate about England players and their technique compared to S.Americans and the rest of the world. Well when the lads are this age unexposed to 11v11 there is clear visual evidence that our lads are capable of developing real skill and technique. What goes wrong? As one coach said to me last night, junior 11v11 will knock it out of them. Parents, coaches, league committees are all responsible for the FA World Cup debacle by letting out protegees move into 11v11 before they have mastered the basics. Am I right? West Marsh got the night off to a great start playing the best futsal I have seen from them, Discoveries Jets was not bad, they just meet West Marsh on a very good night. (11-2).
Discoveries Rangers looked in the early stages to have the edge on Little Devils, against run of play Devils scored and from then on Jets was chasing game. (1-3)
GSC Elite, then had a great day at the office, clinical forward passing eased them to a comfortable win over East Coast Lions 'B' 7-0.
Finally game of night. Table toppers GSC Panthers vs. New Waltham. 1-0 to NW; 1-1 and then off a base of solid defense and great goal keeping NW went 3-1.
The GSC half time team talk was the best I have heard at a junior game. No pull your finger out stuff. Lads keep at it, you have been best team, look at saves their keeper has made, you are a bit older - more experienced as a team, they will tire, goals will come. SMILE.
Second half disaster strikes for Panthers, hand ball, penalty 1-4. A big shock is looking inevitable. 2-4, 5 minutes on clock, 3-4 and 2 minute left, 4-4 with 30 seconds left, disaster and glory in 30 seconds as Panthers take the game from defeat to triumph 5-4.
ECL B was on the night beaten by a better well organised
team. However I will take positives from that game as it’s the lads first
season at this and is still trying to grasp the principal of the game. I told
them truthfully that the A team were in a very similar situation when they
started out and they have progressed and without tempting fate they are very
strong contenders to challenge for the league title having won 4 and drawing 2
from the 6 games they have played so far. The B team are trying hard and in
spells doing well. So to the A and B team, keep your heads up and keep battling
away as your time will come. Also on a
final note can I take this opportunity to congratulate West Marsh for their
empathic win last night. It does show that futsal can and does help any player,
or team to improve their game mentally, physically, and technically. No
offence, they were if you like the (whipping team) in the league. If they
perform like that again, then other teams had better be prepared as they are
not there to make the numbers up anymore. Stu Orr ECL
Junior u/13 League
Healing, Tigers & Discovery Titans record comprehensive wins, at top end of the table. Mid table Novartis just manage result vs. lowly Clee Dynamoes in 11 goal match.
Premier League
Newtons big win over improving Grimsby Institute. FC Grimsby and Shamrock 5-5 in preperation for FCGY FA Futsal Cup play offs this Saturday.
Newton Heath 1 Fulstow 1. Rave reports coming in about Gavin Broughton's herocic goal keeping for Newton. Kept title aspirants at bay for 35 minutes before conceding.
Tuesday League
Closest game Madrid Futsal 5 StreetSoccer 2; Clee, El Dogoes & Trawl FC all record wins by comfortable margins.
Wednesday League
Hemswell let opposition down by not attending game vs. Newton Heath. Just how much does a courtesy call cost? AFC Trawl continue good form, BBS don't have it all their own way against less experienced Scartho, and Yarra thump Gy Saxons. Nimmo blistering pace bags him 10 for Yarra.
