The Lindsey School & Community Arts U16 Futsal team have been invited to a prestigious international Futsal event in December, confirming their place as the best school for Futsal in Lincolnshire.
The team were invited by Dermot Collins, Head of Small Sides Football at The FA, after hearing rave reviews about the teams performance over the last couple of years. The boys finished runners up in the last two FA National Futsal Finals at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield.
The team will be playing in an exhibition match at Loughborough University, on a full size international pitch at their world class facilities.
The match will be sandwiched between two full international matches, which are Libya vs Lithuania and England vs Republic of Ireland. The TLS team will have an opportunity to watch the England international after their own match has been completed.
There is guaranteed to be a large crowd in attendance to watch the home nation, so the boys from TLS will get an opportunity to play in front of a receptive audience.
Director of Football Rob Allenby was delighted by the news; ‘This is just deserts for the effort the school has put into small sided football over the last few years. At TLS, pupils have the opportunity to play Futsal, and we get experienced coaches from the local area to help us improve. This is a real shot in the arm for sport at the Lindsey School and Community Arts College.’
Football Performance Director Les Jones was equally happy; ‘This is a real test of nerve for the team, but one they should relish. Opportunities do not come along every day to play before an international match, so we will hopefully put on a good show and make the people of Grimsby proud. At the end of the day this is great news for TLS Sport.’
