Anyone for tennis? 6-4,6-4, 6-4.
After criticising last week's Newton Heath vs. Grimsby Catalonia game I am left to eat my words; the Monday night Futsal Premier League delivered 3 great games. All with the same 6-4 scoreline!
Valiant will argue they did not have a full team out against Newton Heath, well I watched the game and they was no 'football mugs' out there. Once Newton had edged ahead they recognised a shock result was on and took their opportunity. Craig Norman's inclusion has lifted Newton's team play to another level. 6-4 Newton Heath.
Fulstow Rovers played the teams last Premier League game. Without scouring records Fulstow must have played more futsal games than any other team. They have been a Premier League fixture for 14 of the 16 leagues played. The team will continue in the Kent Street Thursday League.
A big thank you is owed to the team for their unstinting support.

Spasmodically Fulstow rose to the levels expected of them, but to often things fell short, partly caused by confusion on the new goal keeper rule, which is testing everyone's patience. Grimsby Institute was capable opposition that thwarted Fulstow on many occasions whilst just not having enough threat of their own to really damage Fulstow. 6-4 Fulstow.
Grimsby Institute played a second game vs. Grimsby Catalonia with a complete new squad. Liam Higton has a very strong youth squad put together for League XVII. A technically excellent squad was undone by the experience of the 'Cats' who bore no resemblance to the team that produced last weeks lamentable performance. Institute 5-1 down with 10 minutes to play read the nights script to claw back to 6-4.
Liam Higton and Steve Goodwin was top class in goal, being called on time and again to make extraordinary saves.
