The Final - Potter Futsal vs. Littlefields Futsal

  27th July 2009 8-30 Kick Off

2 teams and 1 trophy!

Littlefields' must be favourites after a second half demolition of Grimsby Auditorium in their semi final.  Leading 3-1 in a tight first half an early Littlefields'goal meant Auditorium had to chase a game that was difficult to start with. Everything Auditorium tried was 'fielded' by Littlefieds' who, in the second period, scored at will off the counter attack.  Final score 13-1.  Anyone reading the score would assume Auditorium was a 'write off,' this was far from the story, they played some great stuff, but came up against a team that was on the top of its game.

Potter Futsal  was a different final completely.  1-1 at half time, from my perspective I would have taken a close money bet on Dan Rodger's Newton Heath. Half way through the second half they held an uneasy 2-1 lead, but as the game developed Potter Futsal upped their game. The clock was against them, they faced running out of time to secure an elusive equaliser.  Newton Heath was vintage futsal, 4 deep defenders surrounded their goal, if a Newton foot did not block then the keeper would make an heroic save.  Potter hit the post twice in a minute, had the ball saved on the line, Newton retaliated and twice created great chances.

3 Min's to go, 2, and then in the last minute a Potter equalizer out of nothing. Within 30 seconds Shell shocked Newton conceded again!

Credit to  Grimsby Auditorium, Newton Heath and good luck to Potter Futsal who have kept the flag flying for the non Premier teams.
