GROUP A SEEDING
Spartans Futsal Club
UWE Hartpury
Team Unum
FC Grimsby

With the FA Futsal Cup down to its last 16 any group is going to be tuff and this will be no exception. FCGy has Spartans Futsal club for the teams opening game, to be played on pitch 1. Wimbledon's equivalent of the 'centre court'.  To give an impression of the venue, pitch 1 is the size of Second Avenue set inside an indoor running track.

The game is a 4PM kick off Friday 10th September.

Spartans lost out this month in the FA League Play Off Final to 2 times league winners and 3 times futsal cup winners Helvecia.  Spartans (as White Bear) have represented the FA in the UEFA Futsal Cup.  The team now includes several Portuguese players who have won the futsal Cup playing for Ipswich Wolves.  A challenge the Grimsby players are relishing.

UWE Hartpury are a university team that had a very good 2009 season, universities can go from good to bad in a matter of days as players leave at term times or move into jobs.  Having seen them at their best FCGy has another tough game.

Team Unum  are a complete unknown, watch this space.

The second 2 games will both be played Saturday 11th. The top 2 teams will progress to a Sunday quater final and if lucky a semi final on that day.  The 2 winning semi finalists will than have to lift them selves for a final.  Over the years the finals have not been of the highest standard as the teams are leg wary from getting there.

3rd place in the group qualifies for a semi final place in the Plate Competition.  Nicol Magpies (Grimsby) was a losing finalist in the Plate some seasons ago, losing out in an extra time thriller 7-8.

4th place in the group catches an early bus home.
