School Year 9/10 League
Toll Bar 7 Crow’s Nest Blue 3
With their greater experience
Toll Bar should have made easier work of this game than they did. For me Toll Bar have the ball in the air too
often, it can be an advantage with tall players, but it can be overplayed. 99% of goals are scored by the team in
possession, Toll Bar need to keep the ball longer.
Crow’s Nest was a big improvement
on week one. They had clearly learnt
from their first experience, can they move on again?
Crowland Athletic 10 Crow’s Nests Red 8
Huge praise for Crowland coach Andy
Burrow’s, most managers would have walked away after the teams opening
results. Disappointed he might have
been, but he kept the team playing, even training weekly, they have a Face Book
page and enough new players to enter a ‘B’ team. They know they will never be Titans, but will
Titan’s ever get the pleasure Crowland got from winning this match? In fact both teams played a part in game that
was first Crowland’s to win, and then as Crow’s fought back, became Crowland’s
to lose.
With one minute left Crowland
lead by one goal, Crow’s missed two chances before Crowland settled the game
with a last kick goal.
FC United 3 Titans 12
Titans are just exceptional, add
players, rest players the passing and movement continues Barcelona style. What higher praise can you give a team?
FC United played their part; the
game was played twenty minutes each way as we had time to utilise in the
hall. Five nil at half time meant that
United had conceded a goal every four minutes, not bad against above average
opponents. That difference did not
reflect a closer game, had chances been taken or had United opposed a lesser
keeper they would have had goals to record.
The second half United
reorganised and scored three against Titans seven, a one goal improvement
compared to first half goal difference.
United need a player on the bench
to share the work load, add continued thought on tactics and they will close
the Titan’s gap.
