Another boost for Grimsby futsal as Ben Mortlock becomes the 3rd local player to proudly wear an England shirt. Ben is far left bottom row in the picture below.

 

The picture was taken prior to England vs. Libya which England lost 3-2.  Ben was brought down for the penalty which narrowed the score and gave England an opportunity to take a major futsal scalp.

Ben has previously played for Middlesbrough University which gave him the opportunity to play for BUSA internationally.

Locally he has played for Magpies and this season Gunners Watch when the opportunity has arisen.

Those other England players from Grimsby? Paul Goodhand (Boston Town) and Lewis Axcell. Unlike Ben and Paul - Lewis has never played in the Grimsby League; he achieved international status whilst at Sheffield and Hallam University.
 Libya's record in 2008 Futsal world Cup, Spain lost to Brazil in final. The tightness of the GD illustrates the competiveness of the group:
