Harvest  4    Ruston Sports  1

Saturday, 13 February 2010

Harvest met Ruston Sports for the second time within a month at the Novartis Sports ground, the game as predicted started off at a frantic pace with Striker Dale Mason of Harvest giving the Ruston full-back a torrid time, ably supported by new signing from Grimsby Borough Nathan Emson. It was good play from Emson that saw Daniel Durosomo drive wide of the upright. It was not all one-way traffic with Ruston being restricted to long range shots. The breakthrough came five minutes before the interval when Mason and Emson combined which saw Mason drive home from an impossible angle. This brought a spring in the Ruston's step and they equalised a minute before half-time when Burnett slammed the ball home through a crowded Harvest goalmouth.

The second half was only eight minutes old when winger Nathan Emson latched onto a Ben Smith through ball and slotted the ball home for his first for his new Club. five minutes later Emson again broke clear to net his second of the game, with Ruston.s vainly appealing for offside. Harvest upped the tempo and could have added further goals with Emson and Mason looking dangerous on the break. Rustons then had a good fifteen minute spell but could not find their way through a resolute Harvest defence. Five minutes before the end centre-back Kirk Wheeler capped off a fine performance with a powerful header from a Garvie corner. Again Emson broke clear and should have had wot looked a clear penalty but the linesman's flag stayed down. Again another good spirited performance from the Harvest team which again saw changes due to work commitments, with the referee Sarah Smith having an excellent game in the middle.
