I refereed with Dean Gladwell crucial Premier League title decider between Fulstow Rovers and Shamrock Rovers. Again Shamrock had bare squad which included for the first time Paul Goodhand.
5-1 Fulstow at the break, I did not give Sham' a chance, a big mistake as they clawed back to 5-5. When Goodhand slipped with 60 seconds left, Fulstow faced a 3 v 1 and the GK situation which they expolited to score (6-5). Superlatives to all involved, drama, skill, technique, this game had it for 40 minutes.
In the junior under 10 league Discoveries had their backs to the wall against champions elect Breakaways, against the odds they scored the goal of the night. From GK to a simple tap in every Discoveries player had a 1-2 touch pass involvement. Brilliant.
N Waltham 2 Little Devils 1 wasn't bad either; 2 teams that know each other played 'real futsal' in a match both wanted desperately to win.
Pushing the Fulstow v Shamrock (match of the week, without doubt), and Discoveries superb passing move (move of the week), was BBS keeper Grant who achieved the futsal equivalent of a hole in 1 (a direct shot from keeper into his opposite numbers goal), not once but twice (individual performance of week).
After much deliberation the award goesShamrock Rovers for the sheer guts of their recovery vs. Fulstow.

Week 8 Grimsby Institute Performance of Week:
Written by Kevin Bryant
Monday, 01 March 2010
Clear performance of the week was Fulstow Rovers 8 Willows Valiant 3. Fulstow played the best futsal I have seen them play, and that says a lot as I have seen them play many high standard matches. The value of their performance can be measured against the level of the opposition; Valiant had players the equal of the Fulstow team, the difference was the 'tactical knowlege' of Fulstow to play 'futsal.' Fulstow included 3 players with experience of playing futsal at a national level within the FA League North.
Both teams was brilliantly refereed by international futsal referee, Gavin Sartain, as a result this weeks award is a 'game of the week' award to recognise the contribution of both teams and the main official.
Shamrock must be included a mention after a 11-3 demolition of El Dogos. All 11 goals was brilliantly constructed, proper futsal goals, taps at the post after clever precis build up play.

Grimsby Institiute Performance of week (7)

The temptation was to go for another Premier League performance, Harvest/BBS being the standout performance beating Valiant 4-3. On review Valiant's recent results have not matched the teams performances. 3 losses and a draw since last win.
Market Hotel gaining a long awaited win against Bench Warmers deserves mention.
Surprisingly the award goes to 2 teams playing a friendly game, Discoveries Jets and West Marsh under 10's. the 2 teams have played each other several times to gain futsal experience, their improvement has been recognisable to anyone watching. The last game finished 2-2 and was a credit to both teams, hence team of the week is a joint West Marsh/Discoveries Jets award.
The
Juniors Tournament will be held at Two Riversmeet, 11/12 &
13/14 Sunday 25th July.
Seniors Tournament Sat/Sunday 31st July/1st August 2010 TBA -

The FA initially advertises for
Local Qualifying Leagues across the country.
Each Local League should look to recruit a minimum of six teams. For 2010 these Local Leagues need to have
been completed by the 28th
June.
The winners of each Local
Qualifying Leagues progress on to the Regional Finals in July 2010, at which
point they are joined by clubs from the FA National Futsal Leagues (the top
English Futsal leagues). The winners of
each Regional Final progress on to the National Finals in September 2010.
What is a Local Qualifying League?
A Local Qualifying League may
already be a Futsal League that is running in a local area that wishes to put
forward the winning team into the FA Futsal Cup. More commonly, the Local Qualifying Leagues
are set up with the sole purpose of supporting the FA Futsal Cup. Either is fine, but the leagues need to run
over a period of time with teams competing against each other for the right to
progress to the Regional Futsal Finals
The Grimsby Futsal League has nominated the the winners of GFL XV will represent Grimsby at the 'regional finals'
The GFL has requested that the winners of the proposed YMCA league will represent Cleethorpes at the 'regional finals.'
The GFL will be discussing with the LFA the possibility of nominating a ladies team.

Monday league Futsal Shocks! Catalonia team of week (6)
Written by Kevin Bryant
Sunday, 14 February 2010
Jones (Grimsby Soccer Club) in full flight vs. Chiefs
Shamrock beat an all star Harvest/BBS, and Catalonia beat Fulstow Rovers on a night of shocks. A win for Fulstow would have taken them level on points and games played with Willows Valiant.
Shamrock are the Monday night form team with 4 wins in last 5 games.
Shamrock and Catalonia have tightened the Monday night title race
closer than it already was.
New team Grimsby Institute came close against the experienced El Dogoes.
In the junior futsal under 10 league New Waltham rattled Grimsby Soccer Club Tigers.
New Waltham scored in their first attack with a brilliant passing move
that had them 1-0 up before most of their opponents had touched the
ball. 1-1, 2-1 (Waltham), 2-2, finally 3-2(GSC). What the score does
not show is the number of times Waltham hit a post with the keeper
beaten. Waltham's superb short passing game deserved at least a point,
they were a credit to how the game should be played. Excellent
refereeing and an audience of supportive parents made for a great game;
well worth enduring the cold to watch.
Top junior under 10 team, Breakaways, continued at the top with an emphatic 8-0 win against Lightening Lads.
At Kent Street Chiefs and Grimsby Soccer Club battled out a great 4-4 draw whilst North Somercotes beat leaders Inbetweeners with the odd goal in 9.
After some serious consideration team of the week is Grimsby Catalolonia who beat a very strong Fulstow Rovers team that was not expected to lose.

FCGY lose 7 goal thriller to 'Boro'
Written by Rob Parry
Sunday, 14 February 2010
Sunday 14th
February in the FA Futsal League North
1.15pm
Grimsby3
v Middlesbrough4
(Gemtec Arena)
Man of the Match- Josh Parry
Valentine's Day saw a
Northern Premier Futsal clash that will live long in the memory of both teams
for differing reasons. Boro will wonder how they had not put this game to bed
in a first half that saw the Grimsby
side struggle to penetrate with any speed or flair. Grimsby will wonder how they fought back so
gamely only to let it slip away from them right at the end. Kev Bryant's side
were missing key players including last year's league top scorer Matthew Payne
and brought in more youth in order to fill the bench. Boro had only seven
players and current thinking suggests that ten fit players will out work seven
fit ones. However as Grimsby proved against Liverpool and Boro proved against
Grimsby, if your players are fit enough they can easily cope with the demands
placed upon them by Futsal. The first half performance from the Seasiders was
lack lustre and devoid of imagination, with plenty of possession they should
have made more of Boro's poor finishing. Boro struck first with a well worked
goal but then missed a succession of chances before Danny Hornigold cleverly
fired in from the right side of goal; catching the opposition napping when they
clearly expected him to pull the ball back. However, evening the scores was not
a true reflection of the play and Boro went on to score two more simple goals
due to a lack of clarity in defensive tactics which would be rectified at half
time. HT 1-3.
The second half saw a
rapid response; Boro came close to adding a fourth before Grimsby began to apply the pressure much
higher up the pitch which forced Boro into some defensive errors. The pressure
was building but there was still a lack of penetration until Josh Parry had a
speculative, yet well placed shot from the right, about 18 yards out. The crowd
ensured the keeper could not see the ball and it was safely nestled in the far
corner before anybody in Boro's defence could react. 2-3. Boro were now feeling
the pressure as wave after wave of Grimsby
attacks and constant high line defence meant Boro were starved of possession
and could not get out of their own half. The substitutes were rolled on and off
but Josh Parry was left on the field and with only four minutes left he drifted
into a corner position on the right leaving his marker, received the ball from
Ami who was quick to see his run and in one move, took a touch and fired at an
acute angle past the disbelieving Boro keeper into the roof of the net. 3-3.
Could Grimsby finally beat last year's league champions? It was a bridge too
far, as the pressure was maintained by the fired up Grimsby side, the clock
ticked down with attack after attack keeping Boro pinned down until with only
54 seconds left, Boro broke down the left and scored an improbable goal after a
moment's lack of concentration at the back. Grimsby had a clear cut chance to equalise
again but a free header was snatched and the moment was lost. There were some
notable performances in this defeat from Hornigold and Parry and young Joe Kidd
who did well defensively. The future of the team is looking good with many more
young players becoming interested in what is the fastest, most skilful of all
the football based sports.
