Having missed the junior leagues for a couple of weeks I felt compelled to go and watch, I was not disappointed.
First on N Waltham and East Coast Lions 'B,' Waltham are late starters to futsal but are learning fast. ECL 'B' are hard to judge, maybe its a confidence thing, the teams results do not match their play. One additional player, one top scalp and their season will change for the better. 8-2 Waltham.
Little Devils 9 vs. Discoveries Panthers 3. This was a top class game, magic goals from both teams, Only a late collapse flattered the LD's score line. The improvement I see in the teams is I believe matched by those watching. Both teams was creating goals by skillful inter-passing and 'immediatly' they lost the ball the same players was defenders. Impressive.
By an unfortunate accident GSC Tigers only had 4 players to play table toppers Elite. Not a problem, Elite sporting agreed to play 4v4. What followed was one of my best ever experiences in futsal, imagine the two best boxers in the world locked on combat, every inch of the court was contested. At the finish the lads got a spontaniouse round of applause from the many spectators. They deserved it. The players faces was drained. Thankfully the 3-3 score meant no team lost. What an example of local youth football, if GTFC can't produce junior players they should step aside, the GFL has managers with limited qualifications setting a top class example of what can be achieved with limited to no financial resources; they just might be able to improve the current crop of under achievers. Is their a case that futsal at the lowest ages should be 4 vs. 4? this game has made a few of us think.
My apologies to GSC Panthers (7) and West Marsh (2). I had to miss your game to make an appointment at Second Avenue.
Premier League
Just got down to catch last 10 minutes of Valiant vs. Youngs' Seafood's. Now I don't know what the first 30 was like but the last ten was electric.
2-2 to Valiant when I arrived,3-2, 3-3, 3-4, and 3-5 when Sam Brooks lobbed Ryan Milson in the Valiant gaol from 30 yards. Valiant had an outfield of Powers, Baldock, Lewsham, Hunter, Emson, Jenkins, enough out field guile to sink 99% of opposition teams! Youngs' manager Rob Phillips was understandably delighted at the end, he knows this result, early in the new league as it is, has opened up a can of worms.
Tuesday
Trawl drop valuable point as they share 12 goals with Franklin College. El Dogoes trounce Clee Wanderers to stay three points behind Madrid. El Dogoes superior goal difference could be critical at end of season. StreetSoccer pip Barca in tight 7 gaol battle.
Wednesday
Form teams Newton heath,GRS,BBS Couriers aided by unpredictable Fresh took all the points. Amazed that no one rung in on the night to say games was being abandoned, where I was in Cleethorpes was flooding with torrential rain.
Thursday
Inbetweeners and Everglaze remain locked at top, but look at those bizarre stats. Both teams has 30 points from 12 games, both have lost 2 games and conceded almost identical; but look at the goals scored. Everglaze 73 Inbetweeners 168 for a +122 gaol difference. A show down battle looms.
Could have been the Valiant vs. Youngs game or the complete night of under 11 junior futsal at Novartis. Standing above those alternatives was Dean Gladwell's brillinat refereeing of the Valiant vs. Youngs game.
Please keep those nominations coming in.

A Brazilian legend brought the samba beat to the City Academy on Monday morning.

Falcao is
one of the world's biggest stars in the sport of futsal, a form of
football that embodies the South American approach to the game with its
emphasis on skill, creativity and improvisation.
The
31-year-old will be showing what he can do to City's under 18 squad, and
the Academy's Skills Coach Kristian Wilson is delighted that the lads
can learn from such a great talent at first hand.
Kristian
said, "Falcao is an absolute legend in futsal, arguably the best futsal
player in the world. We are constantly striving to get kids of all ages
at the Academy to be more comfortable on the ball, improve their
dexterity and their co-ordination. Futsal skills can only help in that
process and for our boys to learn from Falcao is real coup for the
Academy."
Keep your
eyes on MCFC.co.ukover the next few days for behind-the-scenes footage
of Falcao and his incredible skills, as well as an exclusive interview.
In the mean time, click here for a citytv video of Kristian Wilson showing what he does with the Academy squad.
Incredible
the futsal progress at Manchester City, it was 18 months ago that
Mathew Bryant took Grimsby Soccer Club futsal under 10's to play their
Academy team at the game, since then they have opened Futsal Centres in
Sheffield and Leeds as well coaching sessions from foreign experts from
Brazil, Croatia and Holland that I know of!

Local referees course
Written by Kevin Bryant
Wednesday, 22 September 2010
The course will be held at Grimsby Institute starting on Thursday 14th October. Most importantly the Registration evening is next Thursday the 30th September. The cost of the course is £80 for over 16s and £47 for those between 14 and 16. A big chunk of this is refundable once a number of games has been completed.
A decision to make part of Freeman St Resource Centre’s tenth
anniversary celebrations a celebration of junior Futsal turned out to be
a winning idea for lads that use the centre’s pitches frequently. The
tournament was designed to reunite old foes and to introduce new on the
Futsal pitch which has helped to help spread the word of Futsal to
Scunthorpe. Appleby Frodingham u13s and Bottesford u13s entered a team a
piece to meet the challenge provided by two ‘Kent St ‘ teams and
Discoveries u 12s and Breakaways u13s. The teams were put into two
groups based on known ability and age. Then a round robin event went
ahead that brought out some fantastic play from both the Scunthorpe
teams and the two Grimsby league teams. The young players from
Discoveries far from disgraced themselves despite their lack of strength
and power. Many commentators even suggested that they played the more
intricate football. The strength and determination of the much older
Kent St Cheese FC told in a breath taking final against a fit and well
organised Bottesford side who are now looking to work with me, Frod and a
few other Scunthorpe based teams to make Futsal a part of their
training regime. Every one of the ‘new ‘participants quickly saw the
benefits of Futsal and I will be working with Bottesford and Frod to
help them transfer their Futsal skills to the bigger pitch. Overall a
great success and if you would like to take part in the next u14
competition please contact me on the details below:

If you blink you miss Kevin Bryant giving a half time talk to FCGY team!
The last 3 minutes of the video is the Helvecia vs. Spartans final. Youngsters, watch the movement of the players, no one stands still in set positions, attackers are defenders within seconds. Most of the attacks are drills the teams will have practiced many times in training.
NB: Neither of the finalist GK's wore gloves.
Monday Premier League
Only one game due to the weekend FA Futsal Cup.
Newtons' 6 Grimsby Catalonia 4. Has to be said, poor game by both team standards.
Junior u/11 League
West Marsh will be delighted to hold Waltham to a 3-3. Two points separate the bottom five teams. East Coast A & B both won, totalling a club score of 18 gals scored 3 conceded. Not a bad night's play. GSC Tigers also had a big 8-1 win. The top end of the table shows East Coast 'A' two points ahead of GSC Elite who have a game in hand. A pack of teams are chasing these two, one slip for either and they are in trouble.
Junior u/13 League
Temporarily suspended as teams have Sunday and Wednesday 11v11 matches. Grimsby Soccer Club and Healing played an excellent friendly with Healing always in front until teams played 'next goals the winner.'
Tuesday League
Franklin College thrash StreetSoccer by a ten goal margin, long time since StreetSoccer have been trounced. Barca impressive holding Madrid to a three goal margin. Biffa show Potential (Work that one out). El Dogo's keep pressure on Madrid.
Wednesday League
Newton Heath pick up tidy win against resilient GRS,Yarra continue to score in bulk, BBS make it a double bad week for Adam Blyth and friends, Team Blaine (formerly Hemswell) start with close win over Grimsby Saxons.
Thursday League
Top three, Inbetweeners, Market Hotel and Everglaze all win, fourth placed East Marsh had no game. Inter have reluctantly had to drop out of the league due shift changes at work. Normally the GFL would insist that a League fine be levied in such a circumstance, given Inter's support over a very long time we accept the consequence and are actively seeking a replacement team. For the moment Inter's record is expunged.
Franklin Collegefor a resounding win over StreetSoccer, last week's Tuesday League Cup Winners. Closely followed by Inbetweeners who managed to get a team out at very short notice and then beat Fultow Rovers.

FIFA rule changes to take immediate effect.
Written by Kevin Bryant
Tuesday, 14 September 2010
New updated rules are from FIFA and as such take immediate effect!
Three rules are straight forward:
1 Slide tackling is allowed! The rule for slide tackles is now the same as for 11v11.
2 A goal cannot be scored direct from the kick off.
3 The ball does not have to be directly on the line, it can be up 25cm behind line.
4 The goal keeper - when you can pass back to him?
The GK can only have the ball returned to him after it has touched an opponent (the ball crossing the half way line has been deleted).
After the opponents have touched the ball he can have the ball passed to him as many times as he wants PROVIDING HE IS IN THE OPPONENTS HALF OF THE FIELD. Confusing? Very.
If the GK does infringe the rule it becomes an indirect free kick taken from the edge of his penalty area in the centre of the goal.
Please be patient on this last rule. Referees at the 2010 FA Futsal Cup found it difficult to adjust to new rule.

Fresh win Wed' Cup and team performance of week
Written by Kevin Bryant

Wednesday Futsal League Cup 2010
Fresh 5 Trawl 2
An early Trawl own goal set them off to a bad start compounded when Fresh added a second not much later.
The early stages was cat and mouse futsal, Trawl aware that one more mistake and they was in dire trouble, Fresh was cagey knowing at 2-0 they had the game to lose.
Trawl scored a deserved and brilliantly constructed goal to bring them back into the game 2-1.
The game opened up with that goal as Trawl chased a second.
Half time 2-1
Another Fresh gaol (3-1) put them in the driving seat, aware of the clock Trawl had to push on whether it suited them or not. It certainly suited Fresh who was clinical on the counter.
At 4-1 trawl gamely clawed a goal back to 4-2 but as the game moved into the closing stages Fresh finished the game off 5-2.
Fresh youth and fitness was the difference between two otherwise closely matched sides.
Fresh
Fresh selected the £100 Joma voucher rather than have individual winners trophies.
Monday night commenced with two games one in League XVI the other League XVII. This meant each game had a different rule for the GK's.
Basically the new rule does not allow a back pass unless the GK is in his opponents half!
The new rule created new problems to be solved, from a side of the pitch viewpoint players found it easier to press, but less easy to keep possession as the GK had been excluded as an option. Confused, join the club
Fulstow are bowing out of the Monday night league in sensational style, Shamrock now know what it feels like to get a drubbing. Fulstow with out listing names were sensational, dominating their experienced opponents, who manfully stuck to their task for the full 40 minutes. The 12-0 score illustrates the attacking skills of Fulstow, the 0 a stupendous performance from Gav' Broughton in the Fulstow net, for one save I had already ready recorded a Shamrock goal!
Monday Premier League
Valiant 7 Youngs' Seafoods' 1 was a game that highlighted the new rule problems or not. Valiant was a winner as Ryan Smith is never used as a 'flying GK,' Youngs had a problem, they have GK's that could play 'fly' but do they risk using him in the opponents half, lose the ball and its in your own net. The'fly' GK has become a high risk strategy.
Under 11's
Grimsby Soccer Club Elite have gone top of the Junior under 11 league played at Novartis, but long way to go. A 'Rizla' between top three, Grimsby Soccer Club Elite and Grimsby Panthers (7 without loss), and East Coast A (9 without loss) are locked in a real battle.
Tuesday Senior
El Dogoes comfortably beat Biffa (previously Newton Heath). Franklin College vs. Madrid was a close call game before a ball was kicked, illustrated by final score - 5-4 Madrid
Wednesday Senior
I left BBS Couriours vs. Yarra at half time with Rob Phillips team trailing Yarra by 4 goals and looking well beaten, shocked to get a call that BBS had won 8-6. GRS 7 Scartho 6 completed the night.
Thursday Senior
