UEFA.com has an interesting section with training and tactical breakdowns for both football and futsal.  Worth a look.

  Just check out his goals on You Tube.  No one else scored 1000 goals in a professional career.  Just to make a point Pele played futsal as a boy, 11v11 was introduced to him  later in his career. Do we introduce football to our protegees to early in their learning. Watch the incomparable Pele

1281 goals in 1363 matches - all-time world record

Top Brazilian goalscorer of all-time

IOC Athlete of the Century 1999

Right, a rare picture capturing PELE marked by the legendary George Best.

MANCHESTER CITY IN SHEFFIELD REPORT;
Written by Dave Ward
Sunday, 12 December 2010
 image003.jpg

SHEFFIELD PROJECT DEVISED AND DEVELOPED BY DAVE WARD;

Educate and improve the grass roots game and coaching in Sheffield;

The aim of this project is to improve the grass roots game in Sheffield using a new coaching concept tried and tested throughout Europe.

Based on the Spanish system we have devised a Development regime that uses Futsal as a development tool in Football.

The Spanish system is also a lot more interactive with grass roots and school football.

The use of Futsal as a development tool especially with the heavier Futsal ball develops technical ability and thought process.

Using Futsal as the main game in a young player’s development, as the Spanish do, enhances and installs technical ability a lot quicker than the English coaching regime.

Using Hillsborough College as our Development Centre, we run coaching sessions on a Monday and Wednesday night.

We had over 40 local Grass roots football teams along with their coaches attend a 2 hour free training sessions using the new coaching regime highlighted in this document. The age groups have ranged from U6 to U14;

The visit is not a one off and many teams have visited the centre on 2 or 3 occasions as part of rolling programme.

We have now got together a Manchester City U7 elite squad who are exposed to mostly Futsal as part of there coaching education.

A Monday night is now dedicated to the development of the Elite squad as we have to prove not only to Manchester City but to the FA and Football in general that this system works. Wednesday is still dedicated to Educating grass roots teams;

We have now linked in with Activity Sheffield working in some of Sheffield’s deprived areas and we have taken this development concept to this scheme.

Again we hope to generate a lot more interest in the game of Futsal and Football.

It is we feel important that Futsal becomes the second most popular game behind football because of its importance regarding technical development.

We have already started sending coaches out to continue our work by visiting selected local grass roots sides so the next step is to take this new concept to local Schools and Colleges.

Manchester City have built up very good relationships with a lot of local sides through this campaign simply for the reason this whole scheme is about developing the grass roots game and not about making money. Everything we have done in Sheffield so far has been free to the selected teams and coaches who have attended.

Even when we have brought across some of the best Futsal coaches on the planet from Europe to take the sessions.

As I believe its time that professional clubs got more involved with the grass roots game and help educate the grass roots game, coaches as much as players creating a grass roots system that is able to enhance and develop natural talent;

FA advice on recent rule changes
Written by Kevin Bryant
Friday, 03 December 2010
index2.jpg
 The FA, in response to problems teams have been experiencing with the recent rule changes, have issued the following advice, to read click here.

 On the back pass rule international referee Gavin Sartain advices referees that ''when  GK has released the ball the referee keeps index finger pointing (your arm outstretched by your side, not to look to obvious) using the hand nearest the GK who has just released the ball.''

The opposite GK is now irrelevant as his opponents have touched the ball, allowing the ball to be passed back to him.

Teams you need your GK to be 'switched on,' GK's you need to be communicating with your team; ''yes I can have the ball, no I can't.' GK's need to take full responsibility.

Leeds is looking an excellent move for Matt Payne after FC Grimsby was forced to take a sabbatical from National League futsal. With offers from other clubs on the table Matt needed to make the right choice.

His season started with a 3-3 draw at Manchester Futsal Club.  Manchester and Leeds have facilities Grimsby can only dream about.

The second game, this Sunday was even better as they beat title aspirants (Middlesbrough) 10-5. 9-2 to Leeds at the break.

Leeds are looking to make an impact on the league this season with ambitions to progress to the National League playoffs and the Futsal FA Cup.

Manager 'Junior' quoted - ''there is a new infectious team spirit following the acquisition of a number of new skilled players with a good blend of British, Brazilian, Portuguese, Spanish and Belgian players. However, no matter from where they originate, each player is honoured to represent the City of Leeds.''

 Elsewhere referee Gavin Sartain needed his abacus as Tranmer Victoria over ran East Coast Futsal, who are having a torrid start to the National League.  Score 18-2

Gavin Sartain reported ''A learning curve for East Coast as Tranmere where relentless in the play and finishing to match. Using the flying goal keeper tactic and keeping the ball throughout the game, Tranmere where confortable through out the match. But credit to East Coast as they kept at it and where rewarded in the second half with two quailty goal. East Coast will have to take all the positives and build on them for the next league game. New to the league, they have hit the ground running and need to learn fast to compete at National level Futsal.''

Ben Mortlock's Sheffield Futsal Club recorded a ridiculous 22-3 score vs. Liverpool.  Interesting to get the full story, early results suggest Liverpool and East Coast will be whipping boys unless they make progress, and fast.

Both Healing Hotspur and Discoveries Titans have been invited to the Barnsley FC  to play futsal at their prestigious indoor academy, which I am told has a brilliant indoor futsal pitch.

I am waiting on the exact date, the coach our invitation came from is currently observing youth development at at Real Madrid, nice work if you can get it.

Young’s 4 Valiant 4.

Absolute cracker of a game from start to finish.  In a shortened 4 team League Valiant needed to redress an earlier defeat. Valiant took an early 2-0 lead, but Young’s' they have a history of getting out of bad situations; this was no different, as they levelled and then went ahead.  Scott Harris then levelled for Valiant with an exquisite finish off the inside of his weaker foot, placing the ball into the far bottom corner whilst riding a tackle and beating the keeper covering his near post.

5 seconds of brilliance that encapsulates what futsal is all about.

Shamrock 7 Grimsby Catalonia 3

Catalonia started well, 1-0 off the first attack, 2-0 shortly after. Shamrock are hard nuts to crack, they give everyone a testing match.  Shamrock are the masters of the fast counter attack, this is where they destroyed Catalonia.  When Simon Taylor was on the field playing defensive pivot Cats had the situation under control, when he was on the bench Shamrock caused mayhem.

Second Avenue lacks a roof, but its international size court creates games of a speed and a tactical finesse I would challenge any other local league to match.

Trawl 4 Franking College 5

Speaking to a spectator before the game I said 'this one was too close to call.'  How right I was, never more than 1 goal lead either way, 4-4 with second left on the clock, missed penalty, the game was Rizla tight.

El Doges 11 Clee Wanders 5

El Doges have a habit of winning, Clee of losing.  After the game referee Dean Gladwell game out with a thought I had in my head - Clee could have got more out of this game, they respected Doges too much.  They played at 90% not a 100%.

  Fresh almost wreck BBS title aspirations, score 4-3 BBS.

Newtons  continue winning ways with 8-3 win against Trawl.

Standout result of the night Scartholonia 6 Blaine 4, a long overdue win against a team inform.

GSC Tigers 5-1 over ECL B  means they are 12 games without loss, 1 more than GSC Elite on 11.  Who will crack first?

Little Devils brought stable mates New Waltham down to earth from lats weeks success with a close 4-3 win.

Mid table GSC Panthers gained that great result they had threatened for some time, taking a point of leaders East Coast Lions is no mean feat.

Healing Hotspur 4 Discoveries Titans 4

a game you could write a book about.  Healing needed a draw to win the inaugural under 13 futsal league, Titans had to win.

Size wise the Healing team was the Titans, every player appeared a foot taller than his opponent. Titans was superb to half time, every player had a brilliant first touch followed by a pass to an opponent that mimicked professionals.  They were that good that they ran away from Healing 3-1 at half time. 4-1 shortly after the game restart, at this point most football games is over; futsal can be disrespectful.

Did Titans lose energy, Healing certainly never gave up, intentionally or not Healing appeared to defend deeper with 3 rather than 4 players.  It compressed the area for Titans to play football in, 4-1 to 4-4 with both teams having a last 30 second chance to grasp a win.

A credit to both sets of players.
 Humberstone (two teams) and Toll Bar played a 3 team tournament that newcomers Toll Bar won with 2 straight wins.  Toll Bar was an age above so Humberstone can feel pleased they gave them a run for their money.
